“Having a mentor, a person outside the juvenile
system to spend time with and talk to, shows these troubled youth that they
are not outcasts: that the community cares about them.”
—The Honorable Ann Aiken, Federal District Court Judge

All
of CPY programs foster positive change in youths’ lives through
goal-setting, self discipline, and skill development in the areas of
athletic, outdoor, artistic, academic, and vocational pursuits.
THE PATHFINDERS PROGRAM
This is the hallmark mentoring program upon which the agency was founded. Mentors
and at-risk middle school students are matched by November. They then participate
in an energizing retreat followed by monthly Group Gatherings through the school
year that foster positive life skills and asset development.
THE BOLDER OPTIONS PROGRAM
A running program where male mentors foster positive changes in the lives of
adolescent boys involved in the juvenile court system through goal setting, self-discipline
and athletic skill development. This is a seven month program that operates from
January to July each year.
THE TRUE FRIENDS PROGRAM
Targets children between the ages of 6-17 who have at least one parent or primary
caretaker currently incarcerated within the criminal justice system. Mentors
and youth enjoy a one-on-one relationship, complimented by group activities and
limited family/caregiver services.
